C.O.P.S./METRO: La Tripa (S. Brazos)

  • Date: Dec 18 1974 Time: 11:00
  • Description:
Former Communities Organized for Public Service (C.O.P.S.) President Andy Sarabia discusses activism in San Antonio during the 70's. This area of San Antonio's Southwest side was once a bustling commercial packing area. C.O.P.S. was responsible for getting the area cleaned up and the packing plants up to code with state regulations on air pollution. This area is called "La Tripa," a spanish phrase for tripe, or "the gut". The area earned it's name because of the smells emitted from the commercial meat packing plants.
