C.O.P.S./METRO: Memorial Library

19:45 Jul 27 2012 Memorial Library

Description
Former Communities Organized for Public Service (C.O.P.S.) President Andy Sarabia discusses activism in San Antonio during the 70's.

Memorial Library was the first out of 7 to be built in C.O.P.S. communities on San Antonio's west side.

Memorial library came out of a library masterplan that C.O.P.S. leaders in the 70's put together, in order to get a bond issued for libraries. 11 total libraries came out of the bond.

Until Memorial library was erected, there were no libraries on the west side, only bookmobiles.
